Communications was one of my favorite classes that I took this semester. I absolutely loved being able to learn more about how to effectively communicate with those around me. We learned about verbal and non-verbal communication and talked about how our body language can sometimes portray a stronger message than actual words. We worked really hard to understand ways to make impressions in job interviews and write an eye-catching resume.
One huge part of this class was working on public speaking. We made several presentations that we would present to the class for 15-20 minutes. One of my favorite presentations that we were assigned to do was about something we were passionate about. I lost one of my friends to suicide right before my 9th grade year. That really rocked my world and from that time on, I have joined suicide prevention groups, talked to people about suicide, and I have wanted to raise awareness about the situation. I saw this as a perfect opportunity and developed a presentation about suicide prevention. If you would like, click through the slideshow on the right to learn more. |
